Damon Beard (Glenwood Old Boy and current East Coast Radio DJ) started his biggest initiative yet this morning at Glenwood.

Damon said: “This is sure to be one of my biggest initiatives yet, as I deliver 100 trees to 100 schools in KZN, as we look forward to 100 years of sustainability.”

Damon flew in via helicopter to Glenwood at 07:45 and handed over a tree to the Acting Principal Mrs Andri Barnes, which will be planted at Glenwood.

The 5th of June marks World Environment Day, the reason why Damon chose this day to deliver 100 trees to 100 Schools, doing his biggest Big Favour to date. Damon said that World Environment Day is not only a day to celebrate our environment, but it is also a day to teach our future generations the key lesson of sustainability.

This initiative would not have been possible without the help from Mondi, The Botanic Gardens, Reaction Unit South Africa, and Key Pinetown.

The trees were donated by Mondi and stored at the Durban Botanic Gardens. Damon is flown courtesy of Reaction Unit South Africa to Glenwood and Fynnlands Primary. Key Pinetown distributes the trees to the Schools.

The Durban Botanic Gardens Trust handed over copy of THE DURBAN FOREST to Glenwood and Glenwood Junior Primary for their libraries.
